Frequently asked questions
What is community solar
Community solar allows you to benefit from solar energy without having to install panels on your home. Instead, you subscribe to a share of a local solar farm, and the energy produced is credited to your electric bill.
Do I need to install anything on my roof?
No! That’s one of the biggest benefits. The solar panels are located offsite at a shared solar farm. You get the benefits—without the hardware.
How does it save me money?
You receive solar credits on your utility bill based on your share of the solar farm’s energy production. These credits reduce your monthly electricity cost—typically by 10% or more.
Who can join community solar?
Most residents, renters, and businesses can join—especially if you're in the same utility service area as the solar farm. Homeownership is not required.
Is my utility service affected?
Nothing changes with your utility company. Your power is delivered exactly the same as before. The only change is the savings on your bill.
